Electronic Navigation and the Application of Information Technology to Short Sea Shipping and Waterborne Commerce.

November 13th and 14th
Bell Harbor Conference Center, Seattle, WA

See what people are saying about the eNavigation conference series!

"Pacific Maritime Magazine's Seattle AIS Conference was an excellent forum for industry feedback. We had the opportunity to discover new technologies and applications, as well learning the latest regulations and requirements. It was a great opportunity for non-stop networking. A completely positive experience and I look forward to the 2007 Edition! Thanks PMM for creating and continuing the forum"
Captain R. William Hughes III
Master, Issaquah/ WSF Navigational Projects

“Pacific Maritime Magazine’s Seattle AIS Conference is a valuable event for pilots and other commercial mariners. It gives us the opportunity to speak to those who regulate us like no other gathering in the U.S. I look forward to attending next year!”
Paul Amos
President
Columbia River Pilots

“As attendees of several past AIS conferences produced by Pacific Maritime Magazine my colleagues and I look forward every year to learning about information technology applications to help us provide better pilotage service on the Columbia. No other conference that I know of gives us access to regulators, policymakers and manufacturers.   We’re looking forward to more of the same at eNavigation 2007!”
Captain Doug Burrows
Columbia River Pilots

“Pacific Maritime Magazine’s Seattle AIS Conference is an excellent forum for the discussion of AIS and related technologies for the actively sailing merchant mariner. It provides me with a unique opportunity to share my experiences with the regulatory sector, and the manufacturers who design build the equipment I use.  I’ll definitely be there next year!”
Sander Groothuis

“I enjoyed the AIS 06 conference enormously.  It was professionally stimulating at a time when AIS and e-nav are rushing forward at breakneck speed and I was delighted to be part of it.  I’m looking forward to attending next year’s event!”
Barry Goldman
Vessel Traffic Services Manager
Port of London Authority, UK

“I enjoy attending Pacific Maritime Magazine’s AIS Conference every year in Seattle. Their ability to evolve the content of the conference every year makes it constantly relevant to the maritime operations sector. I encourage anybody involved in commercial vessel operations to attend.”
Captain Douglas J. Grubbs
Crescent River Port Pilots’ Association

I have been very pleased with Pacific Maritime Magazine's series of AIS conferences.  They adapt the content so that the agenda always fits perfectly with what we are doing and provide a forum where government and industry can meet and discuss the concerns and advancements of eNav."

SESSION V – E-NAVIGATION IMPLICATIONS

Much of what has been published discusses e-Navigation in “ship-centric” terms.  This could convey the impression that it is little more than developing the “wiring diagrams” enabling shipboard equipments to communicate with each other.  Such an interpretation is a serious error since, when fully implemented, e-Navigation may change both governmental and private sector operations.  The session presents ongoing examples of E-Navigation applications.
